Last night we were off out. Went to Protégé - literally round the corner. Bit of posh nosh - a tasting menu of 4 starters and one main course. Excellent food and good service made for a lovely evening, although towards the end a drafty evening combined with over efficient airco made for a chilly ending!
Today is Friday. After breakfast we popped down to our old favourite - Rickety Bridge Winery - for a tasting. I have to confess that 10.00 is probably not the optimum time of day and this practice will not be repeated. But we did beat the rush! Came back for a quick dip in the pool before lunch.
We had booked at Chamonix - think Nicky & Dan might remember sitting under a big oak tree here for lunch in the 90s. The restaurant has changed and is now across the road but still under trees. A very excellent lunch! One had confit duck and the other springbok loin. The only downside was that there was a building site pretty much next door and a large truck spent a long time with reversing beeps going, air brakes hissing and engine idling. Apart from that .... The afternoon was (again) spent by the pool. Very hot!
In the evening we had a takeaway pizza which we consumed in our room having snaffled knives and forks from the kitchen!
See the next thrilling instalment for more updates!
