Yesterday (Wednesday) we arrived in CT 10 minutes late after a 11.5 hour flight! To be fair, we had left late because the push back tractor broke down and they had to get a replacement.
Right, now it’s time for my BA whinge!
They try and make you use the VeriFLY app which ‘will save you time and make check in easy’. No it doesn’t!! It is awful - clunky, not user friendly, took ages to load the required info I.e. PCR test, photo (the worst) etc. Having finally got the app to ‘verify’ and confirm us as ready to fly, BA refuses to verify the verification. So we had to check in as normal. There’s a few hours I’ll never get back. Grrrr!
The premium seats give leg room but are very hard after a couple of hours - let alone the next 9.
There were 2 meal choices but they ran out of chicken before they got to the third row. They did then find 2 Economy class chicken dishes. Tasteless but edible.
On the plus side, they were quite free with the wine 👍
Moving on and back to CT we disembarked by row. Probably took longer but it worked. Handed in Locator form and PCR result, nipped through passport control (helped that we were the only plane in) collected bags, picked up car (upgrade) and were out of the airport in an hour - 15 minutes walking through the terminal etc, 15 mins collecting car so all good.
Proceeded to Franschhoek and our guest house. Same as we remembered, pool inviting, room ready so unpacked showered and strolled.
A quiet recovery day with pm spent by pool and and an early snack dinner at the nearby Tuk Tuk Brewery.
I think it’s now Thursday. Dawned cloudy (sitting on the mountains) - the cloud not us - but by 10.30 it was clearing so we wandered into the village to purchase necessaries - phone charger lead, biscuits and crisps!
We hen went to some vineyards for more essentials. Klein Goedrust is a new one - the first black owned vineyard in the area, followed by Rickety Bridge (much too busy) and Leopards Leap.
Then a small lunch on the High Street before another afternoon by the pool. Posh restaurant tonight!
Catch up later.
