Today Saturday 16th we drove into Napier, at 12 there was a fantastic air display of prop aircraft over the marine parade and then at 12-30 the parade of cars started . I guess there must have been a 300 -400 old cars including Morris 8's, 10's and 12's. Rolls Royces, Model T Fords, Packards etc . All the drivers and passengers were dressed to kill 1930's style, as were a very large number of the spectators. Peg then bought another pair of sandles. The shop owner was very keen on our custom as he gave us a bottle of water each when I payed the bill!
After a snack lunch we drove thru Hastings to Te Mata peak, incredible scary drive up a single track road to I guess some 2000 feet straight up from sea level. Amazing views all around. We were held back from driving down for 10 minutes as there was a coach party on the way up from the maiden ROW voyage of Queen Victoria ship.(The boat was in Napier). They were the 6th coach from the ship that afternoon!
We have booked would you believe another winery meal this evening ( at a different Hawkes Bay winery - Bradshaws) and then tomorrow straight off to Wellington to meet and greet Emma and David. Then Monday we fly to Christchurch. The reason for the ducks photo is as I got out of the car at our B&B I was surrounded by 10 ducks coming to the house for their feed.
Peg is now outside sitting in the sun doing her suduko at 5-45pm.
Bye for now Bryan
