Cuba - More than old cars
Woke up late to another fine day. The place is sooo quiet. Today's plan was to get on the hop-on hop-off bus and canal boat to get our bearings and see the town before heading off to the Anne Frank House where we had pre-ordered tickets for the afternoon.
After walking to Central Station we found the canal boat and set off. Unfortunately part of the canals, and one of the boat's stops, were closed due to something being set up for a royal celebration. Of course this had to be one of the stops we wanted to get off at to go to a very large market. Have to save it for another day.
We got off the boat for lunch and then boarded the bus until we got to Anne Frank House where we had a half hour introduction/explanation of events surrounding her life before going in the house. Again we were pleased we had booked tickets as the queue to get in was enormous - up to a 3 hour wait. This museum gets more visitors than the combined total of the Van Gogh and Rijksmuseum and only allows 150 people into the building at any one time. We had seen one of the movies and read the book so this visit to her house was necessary, interesting and well worth the visit. No pictures allowed as usual.
From there it was back onto the canal boat which took us back to the central railway station where we got off in search of a restaurant for dinner. The food we have had has been really good with quite an international variety on order.

Togia I too read the book and saw the movie and visited the house. Hard to believe what people had to go through during the holocaust
Gael The house boats look like a pretty cool lifestyle, and I love the windmill.
Sarah Looks just how I imagine Amsterdam to be. Love the statue
