We are done in Campo, CA and have no where else to be until April. So we'll go to Los Angeles. I've always wanted to see the La Brea Tar Pits.
We stayed at the KOA. It wasn't bad, we've stayed nicer places but the idea here is to fit in as many people as possible. We used XMas as a travel day.
Unfortunately I was underwhelmed about the tar pits. I'm not sure what I expected, more tar for one thing. Maybe bits of bones and stuff. Maybe all that was in the Page Museum but I'm not big on museums so we didn't go to it. Everyone should see the Tar Pits if they are near LA just to say that they did and buy the postcard.
We wanted to visit Pinks Hotdogs because again it's a landmark. It was too busy, parking was almost impossible so we just passed it and took pics.
We had to go to the Hollywood Museum because I wanted to see the Hannibal Lector display. It was nice, we saw lots of neat things but the Hannibal Lector display wasn't great. We did see lots of other things and just couldn't take pictures because no flash is allowed and things behind glass don't photograph well. Things like the Maybelline room for different actresses and dresses many wore, the I dream of Jeannie bottle was on display. Some costumes from different movies, neat stuff like that.
We walked down Hollywood Boulveard. Talk about a busy place. It was hard to get pictures of the stars because of all of the people. But we did get the Kermit the frog one.
Off we went to the TCL Chinese theater for all the handprints. Again pictures are hard to get with all of the people but it was fun to see.
After that we walked over to Madame Tussards. The gift shop was FABULOUS!! The wax people were great. Many had lines to get to them so we just skipped those. But we had a lot of fun posing with the ones we could get too.
After all of that we were hungry and stopped in at Godiva to do some shopping. Didn't buy anything though.
Two days later we made the long and winding trip up to see the Hollywood sign. Very long and very curvey road. I understood that there was a dog park and the Lake Hollywod park is a park. No off leash dogs and no lake but we were able to see the sign.
We spent the next day at Build a bear and then rested for the drive to Az.
