Devon, Alberta to Shelby, Montana - 380 miles
70 & Smoky/Sunny
Day 90
We bid farewell to Devon and headed south for Shelby, Montana and US Customs. The smoke was still thick in the air making our throats raw, and eyes burn. The visibility was poor. I cannot imagine a forest fire large enough for the smoke to come this far. We were told one fire in the Yukon Territory burned 1.7 million acres. Wow!
We reached US Customs and sailed through. No holdups and that was a relief. The smoke we have had for two days disappeared like magic at the border, as if it wasn't allowed in the US. Thank heavens for small favors.
Lewis & Clark RV Park was just off the highway next to Shelby, Montana. The mountains are far off in the distance and the rolling prairies, with their swaying grasses are so relaxing to gaze at. There are many horses here that roam all over the grasslands.
We settle in for the evening watching the Western sky out over the grassy prairie.
It was beautiful!
