Day 1
After much fussing with a lukewarm refrigerator we were on our way.We were traveling to Richmond Hill, near Savanna. This was the first leg of our trip to Pennsylvania and grandkids.
Being the novices that we are, everything we did today was new.Settling…..we found out that even after you carefully "stow" all your belongings, once you start to move they come alive, and they move on their own.We tried not to pay too much heed to the crashing noises in the coach behind us!
Hugh spent the first few hours getting used to driving "The Blue Beast" as we affectionately call the motor home.He seems quite comfortable behind the wheel. He's not saying so, but I think he's waiting for Utah to let me behind the wheel.
As we settled in for the days trek, we started to relax and enjoy the sites. The view when riding up so high must make cars envious. We noticed the way cars watched as they passed us.One particular car actually honked and their passenger made weird gyrations as they pulled along side us.They stayed beside us and kept up the pointing and motioning got more and more animated. They moved in front of us and motioned to the rest stop sign. Now we were worried. Were these crazy people or did they need our help. When we stopped they told us we'd been driving for miles with our entry stairs down, and sticking out.Thank God for good Samaritans.
We did manage to arrive at our destination without killing ourselves, or anyone else. The RV park was a lovely spot.It was on a lake with lovely white swans sliding through the water.
Abbie is a trooper. She sleeps as we trek and is ready to go when we stop. The dash and windshield have become her personal space when we are parked.
I think Rving is men's penance for all the housework women have done over the years. There seems to be so much more work for Hugh than me.After driving all day Hugh had to do the leveling, figuring out power, sewer, and cable hookups. Then there was the wifi.Comcast, our fast internet connection at home, seems so easy now.
We managed a meal before we sat and watched a thunderstorm out over the lake.It was beautiful!
