We were asked to be in at 1.00pm today to start the course in the classroom. So in the morning we went out to get breakfast and then chilled until it was time to leave. When we got there we met our instructor Sarah and there was a guy who was training to be an instructor who would be with us for the whole course too called Thijs (pronounced tice). Sarah gave us a tour of the building and explained anything we needed to know then took us upstairs to get started. When we read about it on the Internet it had said we would be in a group with a maximum four students but it looked as though there was just the two of us starting. Sarah explained what we would be doing over the next few days then said there were some risk DVDs to watch before we could go any further and some more paperwork to do. She then said there are six more DVDs to watch in total to correspond to the six sections in the book. We started watching the DVDs, she said the further we got with watching then today the better, it would give us more time later on. We got to DVD number three when Sarah came back in the room and said there would be two more people joining the group, she would go through the risk DVDs with them and then we would all go downstairs to see the kit room and get sorted with kit that fits. We then watched number four while we were waiting. When finished we went downstairs and waited to meet the two new people. They were two guys, one called Jay originally from Austria and the other called Justus from Germany. Justus was 6'7" tall and Jay must have been 6'. So I was tiny in this huge group!! We went across to the kit room where the guys over there couldn't believe the group Sarah had brought them to help kit out! We got kitted out with BC's which are inflatable jackets which hold your air tank on the back, a mask and some fins. It wasn't too bad everyone eventually got one of each to use tomorrow when we go out on the boat in the afternoon. After this James and I could go and Jay and Justus were going to stay to start on the DVDs they missed earlier. When we left we decided to go back to the hotel and get changed then go out for something to eat, we had a walk along Sairee beach nearby and stopped at a place which looked and smelled good, we walked up off the beach and had our tea in there. We then walked back to our hotel and started on section three of our homework. Having to set an alarm to get to class for 9.00am feels so strange!!
