After the 'adventures' of last night we had a bit of a sleep in and a lazy morning today ... just what the doctor ordered I think. The weather was spectacular today - definitely didn't feel like winter! The cloud even lifted from Table Mountain for the first time since we arrived. We went out for lunch at a nice cafe with Nico and Jolandi and enjoyed some fantastic burgers (cajun chicken for the girls and beef for the boys).
After lunch Nico, Brett & I headed up Lion's Head. It was one of those delightful, uphill the whole way kind of tracks, but the second half we were scampering up rocks which was a bit scary given the cliff right beside you (and lack of hand rails or any sort of protection!). Despite my current lack of fitness, we made it up. It took 10 minutes or so for me to psych myself up to climb the last bit - that was solely scampering rocks and even had a ladder you had to climb. It definitely pushed me given my fear of heights and the views at the top definitely made it worth it! There were panoramic views of the other mountains (Devil's Peak, Table Mountain and the 12 Apostles), the city and sea. A little field mouse joined us up there too.
We joined the rush hour traffic queues on the way home but thankfully our local guide, Nico, navigated us past all the traffic jams and we got home much quicker!
We went out again tonight, but only to the mall this time (back to the Mugg & Bean) to meet up with Mike & Amy, Chris and Nico for a coffee and catch up. It was great to meet some more people and laugh again at the silly things they got up to at Res.
My muscles are already a little achy so getting out of bed tomorrow will be fun
Goodnight all (or maybe I should say goodmorning for those of you back home )
