For our last stop in Greece we arrived into Samos from Mykonos at 12:40am and went straight to our hotel to crash! Waking up after a nice long sleep we had the best buffet breakfast ever! We then chilled out by the pool had some lunch and jumped on our last ferry to Kusadasi, Turkey!
Arriving into Turkey for the third time we were gobsmacked by how much the price for the visas are to get in as they've doubled in price for Aussies, ridiculous especially when the Kiwis don't pay anything?! Anyway we were then taken halfway around the country before getting to the place we wanted to be at to get our shuttle to our hostel. Arriving at our hostel we had dinner and chilled out with a few drinks meeting other travellers and chatting the night away.
For our first full day we had a lazy morning doing some chores and then jumped on a bus to Ephesus to visit the ancient city. Ephesus is a massive set of ruins which is one of the best preserved in Turkey of which the highlights were the library as well and the amphitheater. After walking around for over an hour in the hot sun we jumped on a bus back to the hostel where we chilled out by the pool reading and chatting to other hostelers before dinner, drinks which then lead to a night of pool and card playing.
For day 53 we booked a day tour out to Pamukkale to visit the white calcium banks and the ancient city behind it where Cleopatra and Mark Anthony lived. This was a 3.5hr bus ride there and back but it was a pretty cool place! The calcium banks were amazing and really pretty, we got loads of awesome photos! We then ventured up to the ancient pools, seeing Cleopatra's pool that she use to bathe in. They were really pretty and we had the opportunity to go swimming but declined as every man and his dog was in there and being ancient pools they didn't looked like they were cleaned too often. We then decided to check out the ancient ruins which were still pretty impressive considering how old they are (3AD)!
After exploring Pamakkale further we jumped on the bus back to the hostel arriving in time for dinner and the full moon party which turned out to be quite a big night and loads of fun! It was a nice end to our stay in Selcuk!
