The trip to Vienna started with a long busabout ride getting us in around 2pm. We arrived to a stunning warm and beautiful afternoon and decided to do a walking tour that included dinner that evening. The walking tour went for 2hrs and took us to many of the main sites and amazing buildings including the stunning City Hall, Vienna State Opera and the Museums of Vienna which are all so beautiful in there architecture and designs.
We visited the main centre of Vienna which is so wealthy and glamorous and also the Habsburg place where Hitler made his speeches from. After traveling around Eastern Europe and starting off in Krakow it's like we've been connecting the dots from WWII with every one of these cities having been affected by Hitler and all the tragedy that went with it. It's been quite an eye opener for us, the level of extencity and just how far it all went, very sad. The tour then ended at a local restaurant with beer, the biggest wiener schnitzel ever and an apple strudel which were all amazing after a long humid day!
After having already done a walking tour of Vienna we decided to spend day 18 an hour out of town in the Wachau Vineyard Valley on a bike tour. After arriving to such amazing weather in Vienna the day before we were excited for great weather the next day but unfortunately this wasn't the case as it bucketed down! That wasn't going to get us down though and in the end it was well worth it as we had such a great time. In total we managed 23km on the bike, not a bad effort, and tried 9 different white wines from two different wineries.
The wine region we visited mainly produced dry whites due to the climate and we also tasted a sweet desert wine and a buttery Chardonnay which were both amazing as well. The sun did appear for a couple of hours over lunch and in the afternoon which was nice, all in all it was probably one of the best days yet!
