Brenton Kovacs's Travels
Our drive to Abu Dhabi was interesting to say the least. Its all started off with the 1.5 hour drive. On the highway there are enforced speed limits, but nobody seems to obey them. It seems the police do not enforce them.
Anyway we arrived in Abu Dhabi. This is a lot smaller than Dubai, a lot cleaner and a lot less polution. Some of the buildings are amazing. The most impressive hotel we have ever visited is the Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi. It is truly palatial in every way. The gardens alone are huge, and perfectly manicured. Would have liked to stayed 1 night, but its a little too expensive.
Ferrari world is a bit of a flop. We decided not to go in, as one of the main rides was not working, and the queue to the roller coaster ride wait was over 1 hour. Did not want to spend $65 each to go on 1 ride that only lasts for 1 minute, especially having to wait over an hour.
Abu Dhabi was a nice place to vist, but as it is the more of a financial center of the UAE, there was not much else to see.
The next drive we undertook was to Al Ain. This town is in the middle of the desert about 130ks from Dubai. The attractions here are plentiful. The Al Ain Oasis, Jahili Fort, the Camel Souk and Jebel Hafeet mountain.
To see and oasis in the middle of the desert is impressive. Very cool and lush green
Jahili Fort certainly had some very interesting displays regarding the history of the area. It is a mud brick structure.
Next stop the Camel Souk. Souk means market, so this is where people come to buy and sell camels. There were hundreds of camels from babies to full grown.
The last stop was Jebel Hafeet. At 1,300 metres it offered an impressive view of Al Ain and the surrounding desert. We stayed here and watched the sunset.
Nothing much planned for the next few days. We will re-visit the Old Souk in Deira, and take an Abra boat ride.

Adrya Kovarch Things have really changed since i went travelling in 1980. There was no way you would see such cleanliness and such a beautiful driveway in an oasis for an Arab country - although I did not go to Dubai just Egypt.
Adrya Kovarch I don't think i could ever get use to NO trees just sand everywhere.
Adrya Kovarch Lot of pollution.
