We travel to Dubrovnik
George Bernard Shaw wrote” Those who seek paradise on Earth must come to Dubrovnik”
It has magnificent Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque churches and monasteries, palaces and fountains, marble streets lined with tangerine, orange and tangerine trees, palms and agaves. City surrounded by ancient walls. It has always been a free city-state so have been able to own businesses over the centuries.
We berthed around 3pm with an hour tour with a guide. Beautiful walled city - have not climbed the walls as yet. After the tour we mooched around - then had a meal at a gorgeous restaurant which used to be the cloisters of a nunnery- wild orange trees in each corner of the courtyard - we spent a very pleasant 11/2 hours just sitting and soaking up the atmosphere. Dubrovnik is VERY busy with tourists - it is the only industry of the city - and there were tours everywhere.
Bus back to the boat for last night on board - actually bit sad saying goodbye to fellow passengers as we had really enjoyed their
