Monday 3rd June
Set off from Trigor 6.30 am.
Heading for Island of Brac town of Bol. Gorgeous - vineyards, pebble beaches, long languid walks. Also found fabulous Mida Italy - clothes were amazing - and yes - we both bought an item - not sure where I will pack it. Obligatory coffee and cske consumed. Only a 2 hr stop. So on to next piece of paradise.
Hvar - the island is known for the lavender and rosemary products, gorgeous clear water, and gathering of younger set ( and celebrities) Bit more sophisticated. It is also a maze of meandering laneways, a fortress and the first public theatre built in 1612 ( where the commoners could sit with the poshies!
Like all these islands Hvar was inhabited centuries ago- with probably the most influential being the Venetians. We found an interesting collection of lace made from agava threads by Benedictine nuns- takes them months to make one small piece.
Definitely could stay here for longer - the day made even more perfect by glorious sunny weather. We are moored here overnight - so we went for a long evening walk then pizza and bubbles - the pizzas are sooo good.
Coffee at a lux looking bar - then back to boat which is moored next to 5 others. We set off early tomorrow for Vis.
