Yes a kilo of fresh local prawns for tea tonight from the local fisherman. Yum yum.
We drove from Charters Towers through the coastal ranges and skirted Townsville all in cloudless skies. By the time we had got to Ingham it was looking pretty grey. You get mentally prepared for it to be cold but it was still 24c outside so not too bad
We arrived in Cardwell to a pleasent welcome to a very nice beachside caravan park albeit drizzling by that time. The views to Hinchinbrook island are imposing on a lousy day like today so should be magnificent in the sun tomorrow (hopefully)
We checked out the town still recovering from Cyclone Yasi that wiped it out more than 2 years ago. Can't believe some of the pictures of the damage but mostly fixed now even though we were told those who decided to stay (and many left apparently) now pay 400% more for insurance than before
The local fishing charter guy wanted $700 to take us out fishing tomorrow so he is obviously not that worried if he works or not. He won't be getting our money
We have 3 days here to chill out so come out to play Mr Sun !!

Mick Sounds great, chilling for a few days would suit me fine! Work at the moment is manic, we have just submitted the biggest ever proposal for the UK T26 Frigate programme (took a team of 24 nearly 4 months to complete) and another 2 major bids this side of X-mas. I really must look into this retirement lark, everybody I know who has retired looks younger, happier and content..............Anyway the weather in the UK is crap and no holidays yet booked so will have to look forward to the sport! Cheers, Mick PS. Mike, the Lions had the luck but you had the ref!
Julianne Elliott Hi Susie and Mike. My best childhood friend has a holiday house on the beach at Hinchinbrook/Cardwell. They stay for Winter. So pleased you're are having a great time. X
