The rain put paid to our plans for a last morning in Denmark so we decided to set off for the ferry in the hope that we could get the long, necessary drive done as early as possible and hopefully the weather would improve. Improve it did so that it had hit 30 degrees by the time we had crossed the Baltic Sea and were driving South on the German mororway.... the same boring motorway with the epic traffic jam we sat in back in May was still as boring and as packed with traffic and roadworks over six weeks later.
We persevered and Megan finished her maths - woo hoo- but by the time it was Daniel's turn and covering about 10 km per hour tops we decided to abort all plans and find the nearest campsite which turned out to be quite a campsite - a train ride to the Friday night disco followed by a flaming torch procession to a huge campfire with lots of marshmallows to be toasted - we couldn't have found this if we had tried! Best of all there are a group of donkeys mowing the lawn... they seem to be officially part of the campsite and really quite friendly, I was just a little surprised to look up whilst cooking dinner and see one at the door hoping to get in!
The craziness that we'll miss next year...
