As the kids were all exhausted from the excitement of Libby's birthday we decided to have a quieter, separate day from the Thorley's to recharge our batteries.
We did morning school before catching the bus into Split, the second largest city in Croatia with another world heritage site called the Diocletian's Palace. It's not actually a palace but more the heart of the city with its labyrinth of streets packed with bars, restaurants and shops (for some bizarre reason lots of shoe and sunglasses shops).
We pottered around for a while before ice creams on the sea front and a game of human chess. Then in the space of 10 minutes we came across 2 amusing signs. The 1st one a road sign saying no trunks for men and no bikinis for women! The 2nd one a man sitting on the toilet shown in the picture above which made the children laugh.
I also enjoyed seeing some teenagers doing the "splits in Split" on a stage, think my dad jokes are getting worse….

Jamie Maker Too many puns going on here... also, was it a 'three ice cream' day?
