Day 12 and I've made Lands End. Cold and windy but dry. Managed to get into the youth hostel at St Just which is a few miles up the coast. Great views out over the sea. Today was another tough day with 1700 meters Of climbing in 62 miles. Struggled to get food today as non of little villages had shops. Day 4 was from Littleport to Kelvedon Hatch near Brentwood. It was a day of firsts, first time I'd taken my leg warmers off, first puncture, hardly surprising when you see some of the trails I've been on. First bridge on the route - see photo. I had to unload all the gear to push bike over. First time the garmin's let me down, just froze solid and left me without navigation and not knowing where I was going! Didn't take any photos today as it's been so flat. I've only climbed about 120 meters and most of that is going up little bridges. Nice sunny morning when I set off but a fresh breeze again. Not many hedges so quite exposed at times. Lots of nice quiet lanes today and the highlight was a 5 mile stretch of canal path just before Boston with wind behind - cycling heaven. Lovely blue sky as I left hosm but chilly and breezy. Took ages to get to Humber Bridge as garmin kept sending me to A63, dual carriageway and very busy so avoided at all costs. Eventually got across but weather getting worse. Turned very wet, cold and windy. Some roads lovely and quiet but very open. First of all thanks to John P for riding to Northallerton with me and Val, Sue, and Terry and Sue for having a coffee with me before I got going, much appreciated. Pretty good ride but I did get wet a few times and the wind was a bit blustery. I eventually arrived at Kev and Lisa's just after 5.
