Well it certainly feels like I've settled into Island life. Today was my first day off and I made the most of it by lazing in a hammock, strolling on the beach then sitting under a palm tree with a book before coming up here to get some time online. Internet access is painfullly slow in all but one place onthe island so I doubt there will eb many uploads of gorgeous piccies. You'll all just need to use you imagination in the meantime.
Havelock really is unspoilt, stolling along the sandy beaches you struggle to spot any developments at all. with 1 exception they're all beach hut bamboo style and blend in well with the jungle. There's not been much clearing so there are still mangroves on most of the island and wildlife a plenty.
The diving's bee a bit different to the UK. Doing confined water sessions at the edge of a beautiful coral reef is quite special and there's so much life to spot that I get a lit overexcited and have to keep reminding myself of the skills.
Life outside of work is really chilled too, all the dive centre staff stay in a little fince with our own kitchen, showers and we each have out own 2 storey hut. I'm just starting to gather little bits and pieces to personalise mine.... off in search of a floormat today! Evenings are usually a cuppa in the market, dinner and anearly night. Cause the islands are still on India time despite being so far east, It's dark by 5 but sunrise at 4am!!!
The dive season is just picking up so i'm expecting to be really busy for the next few months. If anyone wants to visit there'll be a hammock waiting
