Day 9 - August 19- 48.5 miles
Slept in - no fog, warmer -tent fly wet, coffee/breakie then packed and on the road. Passing Nehalem River bridge so many fish boats. Nice ride beach side to a stop at "Rockaway Beach", summer market. Then onto Tillamook, (famous for cheese), also has a great "Pancake House", good food and cheap. Next groceries. Then onto scenic route, Cape Meares, ok, but the steep climbs were hard. 3 mile climb to top. Ocean Side has these amazing Hugh rocks sticking out in the sand. Wow! Into Netarts and along coast to lovely "Cape Lookout State Park", see pic. Our camp was very near water, so constant roar of surf. Wonderful walking beach. Love this. Met two fellow bikers on a tendon bike, from Washington, Lief and Mary, he walked the Pacific Crest Trail last year, 5 months and wrote a book, "A Gang of One". They are heading down coast too. Hard day, but good.
