Got to Noosa at 10 30 am, but had to wait til 4 20 to be picked up so puit the bags into storage and we went to the beach. Spent most of the day waiting, but got picked up and taken to the supermarket to get supplies for the next three days! went back to the camp, and were shown to a big permanent tent thing, with hammock style beds. The camp is all open, with no buildings except these rooms having four walls. its situated on a riverside so lot of mozzies, spiders, kangartoos and koalas around! had our briefing and cooked , then had quite an early night! the next morning we had to leave byten in our 3 man canoes, to head up the rivber. a funny journey up, only 3.5km, but we made it in about 1 hour 40. then we had a 3.5km trek to the beach where we all fell asleep. quick stop at a pub on the way back then canoing back t camp. News of the cyclone getting closer and aimed straight at noosa was not good, and the waether got stormier all night. Made dinner and got on the goon, after having a shower (20c for 2 minutes of hot water!) sleeping in tent this night with sarah, which was interesting, with no pillow and just a little rool mat underneath! Woke up to torrential rain, spiders in the tent, and news that we wouldnt be able to canoe today. We were supposed to be doing a 10k canoe then camping overnight and coming back on canoe the next day, but we had the option of spending the day outside in the camp in the rain then sleeping in the tent or leaving, so in a backpackers in noosa now, still in the rain, but at least surrounded by bricks! the cyclone has been declassified to a cat 4, and started veering away from the coast, but the camp is being evacuated tonight, and fraser island, where i am headed in a couple of days has been evacuated yesterday! all good fun! stuck inside today beacuse od the rain, but with sarah,( from before) and lucy and kirsty who we were hanging out with on the camp, all at the hostel together now.
