Arrived at the cattle station, miles away from any form of civilisation just in time for lunch. found our cabin (26 people on the bus but only 5 girls so we were all togther). Charlotte and I had signed up for the goat mustering, so we got ready and were shown to our horses. i got Bob, a very stubborn brown horse, and after quickly going through the basics we were off, we had to ride down to the goats and there were some really steep ditches to ride through. we had to push the gosts through three fields and then into their pen, and they let us try and do it alone. was great fun and a lot easier than i thought! we got back and met the others and went down to the shooting grounds. We had 5 shots each on the rifle trying to hit this orange tin which flew across the sky. i missed it every time and still have a sore shoulder! im blaming the bad eyesight though. We all got to try lassoing with goat skulls mounted on posts. i got the hang of this a bit easier! we teamed up in groups of 3, and were let into a pen with a goat, and had to be timed catching turning and pretending to brand it. All the girls predictably only wanted to brand, including me, as these goats can run! my team came 3rd! they played circle of fire next which i opted out of, which involved sending an electric shock through the group all holding hands, necks and then ears, and then some of the very strange (and 18yr old) guys wanted one on one shocks on their asses! We went back to the camp and all got dressed up to celebrate st patricks day in green. i had shiny sequined leggins and top and looked really cool! we ate dinner then learnt to crack a whip which is also harder than it looks! there was a mechanical bull and we took turns. there was our bus vs the ATA bus, and i was the first girl to be called up ad only lasted 2 bucks! had a second go and got to 9, the highest score for the girls and im quite proud of that! one of the guys made 23 and the bus driver beaver showed off my turning, standinag and surfing on the bull! Had a great night but the next morning my legs and shoulder really ached! we left at 6.30 am! but had 10 hours on the bus to sleep! we were meant to do barefoot bowls but due to heavy rain(again!) couldn't. arrived in Airlie beach at about 4pm.
