Been having a great time in cairns, its a lovely place, with every other shop a tourist one! went on a day trip out to the reef, and did an introductory scuba dive! took me a while to get down but it was amazing down there! saw lots of little nemo fish and some bright pink coral and turtles. After lunch we did some snorkelling, and even 2 hours away from the coast, we were snorkelling on coral that was only about 30cm below us in parts! the colours were much more impressive than at the Whitsundays but there wernt as many fish. Went out in the evening with Sarah, Sarah and Trish, the girls i met back at surf camp! Spent the next day going for a walk along the esplanade, looking at the outdoor exersize stations (why would you want to work out in this heat?) and found the best kids park ever, about 20 times the size of any other one i have ever seen! Went on a trip to Cape Tribulation, had a river cruise, but we only saw snakes, no more crocs. Went for a walk in the rainforest, then got to cape trib for lunch. Met some really cool people, and we went for a wlk along te beach, 'where the reef meets the rainforest'. apparently you can have your feet on the reef, and hold on to a tree branch somewhere along the coast! it was pretty amazing! we then walked to a swimming hole, a bit of a freshwater stream that is protected by buolders, but was really cold! went in for a swim anyway, and there was a rope that some of the others swung into the pool with! Back at the hostel we cooked together, and then in the bar there was a big charity event, we watched cane toad racing, which was so funny, as the toads ended up everywhere, and a girl dancing from a sminging rope, and there was lots of live music. Alex looked down at one point and saw a snake under our table! there was a massive spider too by some of the rooms that was a golden orb, and can get big enough that they can eat a bird! i don't like that! this one was only little though, about the size of a man's hand! Yesterday morning, i sat around talking, explaining easter to Idan my new Israeli friend, and we all planned what we wuold be eating when we got home! on the way back to cairns, we stopped at mossman gorge, the daintree river, the alexandra lookout and then in port douglas for coffee and cake which was so good! Met Sarah last night for dinner at the woolshed, then went out, as it was my roommate Larissa's birthday, and Sarah's last night in Oz, and Trish's last night away! had a good night, saw so many people i knew, felt like i was at home in wetherspoons! rang mark to say happy birthday! Miss him lots. Had to go and get a new nose stud this morning as i dropped mine down the sink!
