Due to the ridiculous laws in this country our easter sunday beer turned into an easter coke, as you can only drink with the purchase of a main meal anywhere in the country! played a few card games and went crazy with our soft drinks! Easter monday started at a ridiculous time, and we were on the coach by 6.15am heading to Tongariro national park. We arrived and it was freezing even with all the jumpers and hat i had brought! The walk started off easy with lots of kodak moments but we soon hit the mountains/volcanoes! We walked 19.4km/12.05 miles over a volcano and mountains, past the emerald lakes and the red crater, and to the blue lake which was the summit of a volcano, we walked over grassland and snow and through forests, sometimes freezing, sometimes hot in a t-shirt. climbed nearly 200metres up the aptly named devils staircase, and by the end my feet were slightly sore! The views were stunning, and made all the pain worth it though, The day ended with a real beer in the base bar and an early night! Ate my breakfast on the hostel blacony this morning overlooking lake taupo which is so beautiful, and planning on jumping out a plane over it this afternoon!
