The drive to Glacier took almost the entire day today. We stopped in Missoula, Montana to check out the town and get some lunch, then began our off-Interstate portion of the drive. We had incredible huckleberry milkshakes a bit north of Missoula. Much of the drive continued through Indian Reservations, and much of the drive contained nothingness -- just large ranches and an occasional small town. Nearer to Glacier, we passed Flathead Lake, which is enormous. Unfortunately it was Sunday, and it seems that Flathead Lake is the largest center of recreation in western Montana, and the traffic this caused made for slow going. We got to Glacier late in the afternoon, and hung out at McDonald Lake briefly before setting up the campsite and cooking dinner. At this point, I think we realized we were pretty tired from the backpacking trip and the driving and the thought of camping again was less than appealing. Fortunately, we had a great campsite, the ground was fairly soft and the woods around the campsite kept it pretty dark in the morning.
