We got up early and decided to get out of Utah as fast as we could. We made a quick stop by Cedar Breaks National Monument, which was basically a smaller version of Bryce Canyon, and had great views and a ton of wildflowers, and then headed north and took full advantage of Utah's generous speed limits.
We took a detour through Provo, the home of Brigham Young University, which turned out to be just a homogenous as you'd guess. We made another side trip north of Salt Lake City to see the Great Salt Lake.Wow.We headed to Antelope Island State Park, which is in the middle of the lake. It definitely did not feel like we were on earth, but not really in a good way.The whole place just had a very odd smell and feel to it.We attempted to use the picnic area, but there were about 800,000 flies waiting for us.We literally just ate lunch in the car and drove around. It seemed like every time we opened a car door, there were dozens of flies ready to swoop into the car.It was a cool place to see, and we can both cross off "See the Great Salt Lake" from our "things to do before you die" list, but I can definitely say for sure, that if I ever come within 100 miles of Salt Lake City again, I'd better be packing skis and going to Park City.
For some reason, we both just sort of let out a sigh and felt more relaxed the instant we crossed into Idaho. The roads seemed smoother, there weren't any huge hills for the CRV to struggle up, and I just expected to see Uncle Rico filming his dropbacks around every bend.We even saw a billboard that just read "eatmorehashbrowns.com"
