Ben and Marie's American Road Trip
Today was the first day we headed into New York, we woke from a really good nights sleep to the free breakfast, which was really good compared to what we had had before. Sausage, egg, tater tots, waffles and finally a cup of tea!! I had 3 plates and then we decided we should probably go. We got the train to NYC, which was pretty reasonable for a return ticket, and then went to New York Penn Station at Madison Square Garden. The place was like the London Underground to start with, and then you get outside, and everything is on a different scale, bigger signs, bigger sidewalks and bigger shops. They really do do everything bigger, we started looking around the shops, foot locker, old navy, and of course, forever 21. Needless to say, there was money spent, that was why we came. We then went to Hooters for some lunch, I had chicken wings and Marie had a grilled chicken burger. Marie tried Hooterade, and I had a huge mug of Budweiser. Which slipped down very nicely. Hooters did make me smile, and purely for the food and drink, nothing else . . . I swear. After that, we went back to shopping and set out for Times Square, which in itself was breathtaking. The lights and size of the buildings and displays were unbelievable. We went into the Disney Store and M and M World, all whilst walking round Times Square and just soaking up the atmosphere, it was so busy and there were people everywhere. This all seemed to prove the nickname right, "the city that never sleeps" and I really don't think it does, there is genuinely too much going on. I loved it. Marie and I took plenty of photos and then set off back to the station for another day in the Big Apple tomorrow. We needed to do get a taxi back to the hotel, but when we had, we chilled for a bit before getting some shut eye for the next day. Layed in bed and watched SWAT before turning in for the night, already thinking about breakfast the next morning.
