Ben and Marie's American Road Trip
So after our stay in Memphis, having seen Graceland, we were haulin' ass back up North to Springfield. Going back to Route 66 again was the plan, to pick up where we left off. It was pretty long drive, but they are becoming standard now, plus it means we get to see a lot more. We got going after breakfast, and it was actually on today, however it was basically only coffee and waffles, but I was grateful nonetheless. It was warm again, so the drive was pleasant with the windows down, just need to acquire a cowboy hat now. Driving did mean we were saving money though, only spending on food and petrol meant we could keep it from trips and gifts for other people, haven't actually bought much for myself. Can't say the same for Marie, with her forever 21 habits. We drove for around 6 hours and arrived back at the KOA around 8. Just before we got back to camp though, we stopped off at the Pink Elephant Antique Mall, which had huge statues outside, one of a muffler man. It isn't one of the 4 famed Route 66 ones, but still warranted a photo. Then we stopped for a quick drink at the Ariston Cafe, and the lady there was lovely. Gave us a free fridge magnet and took some photos of us behind the bar. We signed the guest book as we had been everywhere, and set back off again for camp. Water had flooded the road so we had to take a huge detour which cost us. Anyway, once we arrived, we got a Burger King for dinner and then got some shampoo from Walmart and went back to the camp to bed, all very exciting.
