Today we were heading North along the coast to Santa Margarita, a KOA nestled in the hills alongside the West coast. It was a 5 hour drive and we set off from Palm Springs in some serious heat, we had done washing that morning too, so we left a little later than usual, and were on the road by 11. We drove a little way and then stopped at Jack in the box for our usual cheap breakfast, and then we also filled up with petrol. The drive through the mountainous region actually took us slightly into the lower clouds, the altitude seems to be permanent here, so we were used to it. We saw lakes and mountains surrounded by trees, it was a really lovely drive. We were watching the pennies, so we didn't stop much on the way aside for more petrol and at Walmart near Santa Rosa. Where we picked up tonight's quick dinner, which was pot noodles, we got a pack of 6. So for dinner when we arrived we had those and green tea. Sort of healthy I guess. The KOA was in a quiet little area apparently home to bears, but we didn't see any. Marie saw a frog in the shower when she brushed her teeth, then we both retired to the tent for some shuteye.
