Today, we went on an adventure to the waterfall at a huuuuuge national park about a half an hour drive outside of Hat Yai. Kwan (one of the thai girls who works for Teacha Language School) organised us songtels to take us there, once there she ended up having a big argument with the men at the front desk because they were trying to charge us 200baht because we were farang and for locals its free. In the end we managed to get in for 100 baht, Kwan was still highly unamused by this and would not stop exclaiming in her thai accent that 'he's such an a******!!!'
Anyway, the waterfall was absolutely beautiful, surrounded by jungle. It had 7 different levels in all. We swam at the bottom of the first level, Jo has an amazing video of me being completely pathetic and refusing to get into the water due to the amount of gross, big, grey fish there were in the water. I'll try and upload it just because I know you'll find it hilarious (Mum and Dad).
After that it began to rain (typical) moonsoon style. Once it slowed abit we decided to climb up to the next level anyway, but this wasn't any natural trust park, the 'path' meant pulling yourself up steep hills by trees, clambering over rocks etc etc. I felt like I'd entered a tough man competition but we managed to make it up to level 3, which had the most incredible views but was prettttty scary. We've decided we are definitely coming back another day when it's sunny and the ground is dry so it's not such a health hazard.
It was a fun day nonetheless and made me realise that there are actually things to do in Hat Yai and if we were to be placed there it wouldn't be so bad after all...
