We wake up Tues morn at 6.30 am, ouch. We are on a bus by 8am for 430 baht single to samui, and we are very happy people.
By 11am we are back in a stress, back to thinking apartment hunting is VERY STUPID. Having received a call from Kylie who has stayed in Hat Yai due to starting school on the Thursday, who has received an email of Dalton (are you following?) who say's that everyone working in Kylie's school can not stay at the apartments as they are too far away from their school. And apparently the same applies for Jo and Rhi's school. PANIC. Ridiculous of them not to mention earlier grrr.
So Kylie has to break in to Rhi and Jo's apartment to find their deposit and passports, get across the other side of town, back to the first apartments to try and negotiate sorting 2 apartments for us there. (We are sharing by the way to save money.) After a highly stressful few hours involving a translator she manages, well done her.
But I can't help feeling a little sad that we are now there, the reasons for this being:
1) I now have at least a 20minute commute to school everyday even though it is not really that far, due to it being on a main road and traffic is horrendous.
2) The location of apartments where we are staying is ideal, close to town, street vendors etc and new apartments are very far out of town, not very close to anything.
3) I got used to the idea of the apartments where we are and they are really starting to feel like home.
4) The new apartments are not as nice as our other apartments, they are small and dingy and small.
BUT I am sure I will grow to like them, I do not really have a choice and do can not really afford to live in other apartments near my school on my own and save for travellling. And in truth I would not want to live there away from the girls anyway. So it will be fine.
P.S we have arrived on Koh Samui, only a quick 8 hour journey on a bus, ferry, taxi. Have negotiated ourselves a beach hut for 250 baht each a night on the beach front which smells of stale smoke...we are well jel of all the people staying in the amazing hotels .
It is SO touristy here, could not be more different from Hat Yai and there are so many farangs! It is great but in a way that you would NOT want to be here for more than 4 days max.
