After arriving in Hanoi, we made our way to our hotel. Luckily Jetstar have a bus that takes you into the centre- much cheaper and avoids being scammed by taxi drivers. After getting on the bus and thinking we had avoided any taxi scams we got a taxi to our hotel. He offered us a decent price but we thought we'd be better off on the meter. After literally driving round in one massive circle he stopped on a road, not the one we wanted. I think the road was actually a genuine mistake because the road names sound similar, but after the whole driving the very long way round we were not impressed!! When we finally got to our hotel, we were pleased to see how nice it was! It's one of the nicest (best shower weve had in over a month!!) and cheapest places we've stayed! And it has free wifi and breakfast :) we headed out for dinner and found a really nice but insanely busy restaurant. They had some very yummy spring rolls for only a pound!! The next day we had a bit of a chocolate hunt, it being Easter and all, but it was a bit of a let down- were definitely missing English chocolate! After chilling at the hotel for a bit and booking our Ha Long Bay tour we went to see Ho Chi Minh's house, pagoda etc. We then headed back to the same restaurant as last night for some very late lunch! We went back to the hotel and then in the evening, me, Emily a Emily decided to go for some drinks. But we didnt end up leaving until after 11 and being a Sunday nearly everything was closed. We managed to find a nice bar for some beers though :) the next day after a later breakfast we stayed at the hotel until lunch. I decided to try and upload some photos but they were so slow they weren't even finished by the time we went out- that's three hours of my life I'll never get back! :/ we found a really nice restaurant for lunch (turns out we ate there on the Vietnam trip!) and I had the nicest pho ga I've had!! We then went to see the oldest temple in Hanoi but turns out its closed every Monday :( instead we headed to the market, but I think it was more for the locals- no where near as good as the one in Ho Chi Minh! The next day we had an early breakfast and then set off for our Ha Long Bay tour. The drive was about 4hrs and when we got there it was so much quieter than last time I went, which was nice :) we went to get on the boat- which wasnt exactly how the picture had looked but still pretty nice, there were some people just getting off and one o them said "enjoy your time in hell!" how encouraging. After having lunch on the boat (which was a selection of food, including some very yummy seafood!!) we sailed around towards a floating village. Then we went kayaking and me and Emily kayaked over to see another floating village, and then a little cave. After getting back to the boat we went to see a cave on one of the islands. It was really pretty and the guide pointed out lots of rocks that resembles different things (some a tad exaggerated but still). We got back on the boat and had some dinner and then just relaxed for the evening. The rooms were pretty comfy and the next morning we planned to get up at six to see the sunrise. Only when we woke up at six, the sun had already risen! >:( after breakfast we spent the morning sailing around Ha Long Bay, back towards the harbour. After lunch we then drive back to Hanoi, but they fitted loads of people on the little bus so it was a bit squished. After sorting our bags back at the hotel we headed out for dinner. We decided to go back to the ladybird restaurant because the food was so yummy! After a lovely mass Skype session with some of our friends, me, Emily and Emily headed out for some drinks. First to beer corner and then to a bar where everyone was sent (hidden) upstairs when the police went past. The next day we just chilled ad grabbed some food before flying to Luang Probang this evening.
