we have arrive at maggie island and its is beuatiful shame about the weather thou! :( it is meant to have 320 days a year of sunshine we just managed to get one of the other days and after managing to get to our hostel pretty dry we decided to go on a walk since it wasnt the best day for sunbathing. we did the forts walk which had spectacular views but when its all raining you dont get to see 2 much and the famous koalas (fuzzy bums) that live here all hid away. boohoo. on the way up to the top of the fort walk ( few forts in sight all just rubble with a label saying what it was, in some cases there was not even rubble!) we met an irish bloke from cork who offered us a lift back to our place in his MOKE the islands transport is like a oversized beach buggie/minicar. anyway we got back pretty quick as he ran it up to 100km! beki held on very tight in the back. when we got back to our dorm we walked in to find.... ROLF a finish guy who seems to be following us. lucky for us he seems a decent bloke and is travelling just like us. we met him on the greyhound bus as he was doing the same crazy overland route. we said goodbye in Mt Isa as he was getting the train. Then he turned up in the same hostel and room in Townsville and now on maggie island he is in the same room all conincidence..wierd but possible as it happened the same way with steph and steve only a lot more frequently! maggie island is lovely just shame about the rain
