Beki and Steves travels
bekis dive course!
done over 3 days was amazing!
the first day was all theory we sat in thisa dudes room and made sure we watched the video and filed in the paper work.
steve sat on the beach all day n cought up on his tan.
day 2
this was all our pool work. im doing the course with a canadian and a sweedish bloke and the instructor is called graham ( typical auzzie)
it was scary stuff when we first had to take out our regulators ( breathing mouth peice) and remove our masks all alien to me. but we all got through it.
the afternoon consisted of 2 river dives. we saw a little 30cm shark and a nasty stone fish aswell as a sting ray but not much else jsut practiced some skills. it was pretty scary at one point as a large boat came overhead it was really loud and we had to keep down.
steve had another lazy day sunbathing at the beach
day 3
an early start to go on the cruise ship which wud take us to do the last 2 dives.
it was the huge 100 people catamaran boat that came over us the day before ( the spirit of 1770) it would take us out to lady musgrove island in about 90mins. it was rough going all the way and i was sick twice and so were about 50% of the other passengers. it was a clear day just the boat went into the wave really fast so had a lovely effect on the stomach.
I managed to recover fast enough to eat the midmorning snacks when we arrived at the island. unfortunalty as we were diving we dnt actualy get to go onto the island but we got a lovely look at it and some great photos.
our first dive was going to be at a new dive site at the barrier wall so we would go down deep on an unexplored site! we kitted up and got ready to roll off the side of the boat. which was a weird sensation, but after a few stop n starts i manged to roll and get into the water.
we did our skills then went off on a exploratory dive. after about 20mins we saw a 2m shark! it was a white tipped shark and came really close! it was amazing. we also some some great coloured fish.
we surfaced and were taken back to the baot for lunch whichwe scoffed. i brought my lunch box and save soem fruit as it is so expensive here.
our second dive was even better still. we went back to the reef wall where all the good diving is and after our skills which were really scary. ( i freaked out at bit when i ahd to take my mask off and it got stuck! i got it back on abd started to breathe deeply again. it wasnt very pleasent. my body was telling me to surface but my mind and the instructors arm was keeping me down!
after all that we manged to get going on our dive and had a wonder round the reef wall. we got to see a massive logger head turtle which we were told would ahve been about 200 years old! it was magestic it even came to say hello. i have some great underwater pics but unfortunaly then wont be on the site.
it was great! we completed our test on the way home and i passed with 90% yay. it wasnt as rough on the way back as we were "surfing" the waves.
a fantastic day with yummy food and a kule qualification to follow!
