Retired & Traveling
It's so easy to lose track of days when you're at sea & on vacation!
Since we didn't have an excursion planned for today, we all met for breakfast in one of the formal dining rooms & ordered our food vs. going thru the buffet lines. One thing we learned about this is that the formal dining room closes at 9:00 a.m. Who knew? We all thought this was early to close, especially since even McDonald's serves until 10:30 a.m. LOL
We decided to head into town & rent ATV's (all terrain vehicles) & set out to explore the island of Mykonos. It's very arid here, they don't get a lot of rainfall, so everything is pretty brown on the island. We made our way to Elia Beach, which was breathtakingly beautiful! We put our toes into the water, which was FREEZING cold! No way would I have been able to swim in that water, even though it was crystal clear.
We stopped off at a monastery along the way & went inside--no photos were allowed but let's just say it was extremely ornamental. One of the interesting things about this island is that there are NO street signs telling you what road you're on....not that there are that many of them, but when you're trying to get around, it's VERY confusing. And everyone seems to be in a giant hurry--we got passed in dangerous situations so many times!! We did finally manage to make our way to Paradise Beach & had some Greek food for lunch.
I had a massage appointment onboard our ship, so Rich & I cut our visit short & he dropped me off. Brian & Teena managed to find some of the more "interesting" beaches that Greece has to offer, and ended up meeting some of the crew members from our ship.
The spa onboard the ship is wonderful & I enjoyed my massage. We met up back in the room & after a few glasses of wine on the balcony, headed off to dinner. All of us went to the ship's theater to see a comedy magic act & some guys that did a bunch of Everly Brothers music. And now I'm off to bed, a busy day tomorrow in Athens!
