A bit of a Sunday sleep in for some in our lovely free camp.
We then drove a short way into Mount Isa, past the industrial site of the large mine. On a Sunday most things are closed however we visited the Visitor Information Centre for a coffee and some research.
After a shop for supplies and lunch we ventured to our accommodation for the next couple of days. 20kms down a non-sealed road to West Leichardt Station. 310,000 acres of cattle farm. About 10 caravans were staying outside the homestead, surrounding a nice grassed bbq and outdoor entertaining area. A very relaxing place to spend Sunday afternoon.
We encountered a major problem late in the afternoon. No phone reception, internet or TV to get an update on the Hawks v Pies game. Need a win to sow up 3rd spot on the ladder and the best opportunity at a 4 peat. A couple of satellite calls to Pa Pete before Paul (assistant farm manager) took us to his satellite TV to watch the last 30 seconds. A 1 point win was huge for the Hawks however I'm not sure our late season form is very flattering (compared to the Swans, Cats & Eagles).
