Happy Birthday Kez
After a good night sleep we left Barkly Homestead this morning, filled up with fuel then headed for Queensland, crossing the border about 2 hours later.
We had been told that there was a drover's festival at Camooweal just over the border so decided to stop off for a look. Probably shouldn't have bothered. Only about 300 people there all up, presenter kept asking drover's up to the stage for an interview, about every 3rd one seemed to be there. When we lost interest in this we ducked off for a quick bite. We then went to the museum on site and were told he was closing up (1.30). He had to get a bite to eat, maybe come back tomorrow (maybe not). Time to move on.
Decided to freecamp on the cusp of Mount Isa before spending the next couple of days there. Found a gem of a camp site, a WWII memorial on the side of the road 53kms West of Mount Isa. About 30 vans scattered under great shady trees.
Nice camp fire, couple of Morgan's - all good.
