Today went well until we tried to board the ferry back to Horseshoe Bay for my dental appointment at 1.30pm.
There was an unexpected rush of vehicles wanting to use the ferry (presumably due to the continuing heavy rain forcing people to come home early).
The result was that Millie failed to board the ferry and I had to go on as a foot passenger and take the bus back to Vancouver, then run to The dentist's surgery on West Cordova.
I made it only a few minutes late, but it was not pleasant...
The dentist, however, was pleasant and fixed the broken tooth and Chris popped in to say hello during proceedings!
After the treatment was done I managed to rendez-vous with Bill driving Millie through central Vancouver, and pioted our way back to Greer Avenue and home for a cup of tea with Mike and Beth (who had planned to meet us much earlier in the day and take Millie for an adventure, but the ferry crush had put paid to that).
Instead we met them at Pitchfork Restaurant on Cornwall Avenue near to Chris's house for a tasty lunch of spicy soup and rainbow wraps. It was such a good feeling to see then sitting in the window and their faces light up as we pulled up outside in Millie. We have finally managed to all end up in Vancouver together!
Mike and Beth headed off on the bus to go shopping whilst we unpacked and re-packed in preparation for the next stage our trip - sailing in the Gulf Islands.
Dinner was booked early that evening to take account of the effects of jet lag, so we all met Chris at The Wildebeest at 6.30pm. Such a happy reunion and family evening.
The meal was a carnivore's dream - we went for the 'Omakase' menu ('Let the chef choose') and enjoyed meat platters and Wagyu beef as well as horse tartare...
After dinner, we popped into Wiivv wher Chris had work in progress with his new sandals - sadly not 'race-ready' yet, and in any case, better saved for a new and different challenge than a half marathon...
We then picked up an evo car, strapped Chris's bike to the roof (to the surprise of the car park attendant and frustration of the driver behind us at the barrier) and headed for home!
Back home we were all set for an early night, as Chris prepared for his 'Sea Wheeze' half marathon tomorrow morning at 7am.
