We tried to plan for my birthday so that we were somewhere fun and also had a base for a few days and it turned out Hoi An would be the place. A beautiful French colonial town built up around a nice river, many of the buildings have a Chinese and Japanese style as well which was really nice. Hoi An was a great place to stay for a few days. Definitely one of the most picturesque places we've been in Asia so far. Beautiful colonial buildings and also quaint Asian shops, bars and bridges. The town lit up at night with lanterns and street stools all over. Bars and restaurants were all really nicely done. Around town by pedal bike by day, stopping off for beers and food on route.
