Huge day out exploring today starting with a take away coffee in the nearby drive through Yahava Coffee shop, and then a drive to Augusta to visit Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse. While Gadi explored the grounds of the lighthouse, I was lucky enough to see a pod of dolphins swimming in the bay. Nearby were interesting rock formations including an old water wheel used to power the lighthouse.
Next we stopped in a sweet little beachside park in Augusta to eat a picnic breakfast.
After enjoying our hard boiled eggs, tomatoes and banana cake, we headed to the Boranup forest drive, a detour that takes you on a dirt road through some pretty Tingle tree forest scenery. Then on via Caves Road to see one of the Margaret River caves, Jewell Cave. Mid afternoon we drove to Dunsborough and Bussleton and realised we will need another day to see all that this lovely region has to offer.
We were in time to watch the sunset from the Busselton pier and we then went in search of the great gelato place my sister recommended, only to find it closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
We did a shop in Woollies and headed back to our campsite in the dark to eat left over lentil and veggie soup and BBQ chicken. It's been a really long day and I am exhausted!
Good night xx
