Well I made it!
I had a very straight forward journey to Nairobi, no real incidents. I was concerned when I couldn't put my hand luggage in the overhead locker above me and the stewardess took it to one half way down the plane behind me ... NEVER let your bag out your sight is probably the most common advice I have been given. So I was very relieved when it was apparent the seat next to me was vacant. As soon as we took of I retrieved my bag and sat it next to me for the duration of the flight. Phew!
I was met at the airport by David who had managed to sell me a sightseeing day round Nairobi even before we had left the airport car park. So today I have been to the Nairobi Safari Walk where I had my own personal guide, Wesley. He was very interesting and allowed me to feed or touch most of the animals. I was even encouraged to actually lay next to and 'cuddle' a cheetah. Needless to say I was a little nervous when I was told to put my head next to hers... My house cat Eddy would've scratched my eyes out if I had attemtped this at home. However, Cheetahs are far more approachable I'm pleased to say. I got to touch a Rhino, feed an Ostrich, monkeys and get close up to a leopard which was amazing. Then we went on to David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust Orphaned Elephant Project. I just love baby elephants and we had a full hour close to them watching them at a watering hole and playing in the mud, kind of elephant glastonbury. Next was the Giraffe sanctury where again you could feed and touch them. They are quite beautiful. The day was finished off at Bomas of Kenya, where they have replica villages of the different tribes of Africa. You can see the huts and go inside. I really enjoyed having a nose around and then there was a show of African traditional dances, which was mesmurising.

What a wonderful experience. You can't beat seeing the animals in their native habitat, such an honour.
