Well, I think it is now day 9 of my trip and what a 9 days it has been. We have been to the Serengeti which was not as good for game as the Maasi Mara but the landscape was very impressive. We camped out in the park and could clearly hear hyienas in the distance. The following day we visited the Ngorogoro crater but only after spending the night camped out on the rim of the crater. We were very high up and so it was very cold. As we pitched our tents a small herd of about 7 elephants walked past, very surreal! During the night Zebra chewed on the grass round our tents and again we could hear hyiena!
The game drive in the crater the following morning was amazing. There seemed to be sleepy lions everywhere, we were able to get within just a few feet of them, we also got to see two separate lion hunts one was preying on wardhog and the other was 3 lions preying on Wildebeast, neither resulted in a kill but it was very exciting to watch. In the crater we also saw Flamingos, Ostriche, Buffalo, Zebra, Hyiena, Elephant but still no Rhino as yet.
I am no sitting in the Beach Hotspot resort internet cafe in Zanzibar, a beautiful Island in the Indian Ocean, with crystal clear water, white sandy beaches, hammocks and cocktails. Tomorrow I will do my first dive!
Zanzibar is the end of the line for 10 of our group. 5 remain with the tour and we are joined by 2 new people , a couple from Australia. It will be sad to say goodbye to my new friends but exciting to see what we do next.. Lake Milawi here we come!!!
