Back on the Feejee Experience bus, rejoining Katie, Rosie and Michelle from from the first 2 days of the trip and who I had left at Mango Bay. We were off the the northern most point of Viti Levu, Volivoli Beach at Rakiraki. On the way we stopped of at Wailotua Village, a remote village in the highlands where we were met by the Chief and treated to yet another Kava welcoming ceremony. We were beginning to get the hang of these by now. The ceremony requires participants to say Bula and clap appropriately when Kava is offered to them. In all ceremonies you sit of the floor and knees and shoulders should be covered, so sulu's (sarong) are always worn with shirts or t-shirts. After the ceremony we went to visit a local school. This was the schools 2nd day back after their main summer break,so the start of a new school year. It was a primary school for 6 to 13 year olds and we visited each class giving the children candy's. We also all donated school supplies like books, rulers, erasers, plastacine for the teachers to give to the most needy of the children. It was a great experience.

Before reaching the resort we managed to squeeze in Bilibili rafting on Wanibuka river. Bilibili rafts are long rafts made out of bamboo. We had 2 rafts. The Chief of the village and some of his family joined us on the river and help us to race the rafts, followed by a very dirty game of chase in the river. The Chief plays a very dirty game indeed! Great fun and we didn't let the fact that there was a cow just upstream of us spoil the fun.

Arrived at Volivoli Beach Resort at about 5, where I met up again with Christian and Sally. Again I decided to spend 3 nights here so I could take advantage of the diving as I had been told that this was the best place on the mainland to dive from.
