Arrived real late again so had to check into a ropey looking hotel, turned out it was actually alright. Had a lie in an then went to look for another hostel, on the way hearing 'sit down banos' shouted from two punks Mark and Sam from our trek. They took us to their hostel where we dumped our bags (Joel re packed his) and went off to meet Adam, Ida and Mirjam also from our Machu picchu trek. Was quite cool that we were all reunited again, went for lunch and then decided we would do the Colca canyon trek together (deepest canyon in the world). Joel went to a nun monastery in the afternoon whilst Laurie tagged along with me buying souvenirs for someone, meeting up with everyone for dinner later. Tried alpaca which was nice but chewy, Mirjam having the spiciest thing she has ever had nearly crying!! Was pretty funny though! Had an early night as we were doing the trek the next day and leaving at 0300... Got up and got the bus, nice and squeezed in although I somehow managed to sleep for most of the 5 ride! Once we got there the girls decided to do the 3 hour decent and we showed off our masculinity by doing the 7 hour hike, even Laurie came!! The downhill bit was real hard in our trainers and it was insanely hot, we still managed to do it at a good pace though. The next bit was all uphill and was hard, especially one bit which was insanely hard! Was a good day for trekking, covered 20k and only took us 4 1/2 hours shading 2 1/2 hours off what it meant to take us. There was a little hassle about where we were staying but thankfully Sam and Adam are good at Spanish so it was all sorted! Jumped in the pool and had a beer and relaxed for a while before playing a game of volleyball. Me Laurie and Sam somehow lost, mainly due to marks suspect scoring system but if it made him happy by cheating then it's down to him. Had some soup and pasta before having an early night, our group here and at Machu Picchu are real rock and roll!! The girls left early to hike up and we rolled out at 9am after saying goodbye to Adam who again was going on an insane hike, the uphill hike was a killer. Even at 9 it was super-hot and the mountain was real steep, we were dripping after 5 minutes!! Me and Joel managed it in 2 hours, the others 15 minutes behind but all happy we beat the suggested time of 4 hours! Met up with Ida and Mirjam and got the bus back to Arequipa, all of us sorting out tickets out for the next destinations. Had an amazing Mexican as our last meal together, Sam and Mark heading off home soon. The meal was amazing and real cheap too, had a good laugh and then said goodbye to the Dutch girls but might bump into them in Bolivia. Chilled out in our hostel until our bus at 2300 to Puno where we were getting a connecting bus to Copacabana (Bolivia). Laurie still hasn't washed any clothes, the tramp at the border smelt better than him, me and Joel are now fighting over who has to sit next to the local.
