Was good to get back and have a hot shower and feel clean again!! Had some food and went down to the rest of our groups hostel for a couple of beers and say goodbye to Juan our tour guide. Was a very emotional time but after a couple if shandys we said our goodbyes and headed off to our hostel for some party times. Me and Sam wandered around town looking for an ATM and ended up in some little corner shop drinking the strongest local wheat vodka and Inca cola with the locals, ending up at the hostel an hour later. Joel and Laurie were half cut when we arrived so we started to play catch up, Mirjam and Ida not really feeling it so heading off home. It was a Halloween party too so as the only ones not dressed up we stood out like sore thumbs although a lot of people asked why Laurie had come dressed as a Jew. Was a pretty good night, I seemed the sensible sober one for once Joel on the other hand was a mess!! Made me walk him to some club that he wanted to go to on his own after blowing out some fit kiwi bird, maybe if it was a kiwi bloke.... Laurie copped off with some Aussie chick dressed as wonder women, his standards are getting better this time a 5/10. I woke up pretty early so went and skyped Ruth for hours and put all my washing in, looking forward to wearing clean clothes! Didn't do much for the rest of the day and got a night bus to Nazca. 2 weeks before the trek, 5 days of intense trekking and no washing, and Laurie still hasn't washed any clothes... Arrived in Nazca real early and due to the desert it was still mega hot, but the place was a dump no real nice places to stay so ended up in a ropeyish hostel. Dumped our bags and booked a flight to the Nazca lines and did that a few hours later. Was pretty interesting how it was done and got on the smallest plane any of us had been on, 2 pilots and 4 chairs! Felt really weird when flying, stomachs kept going but the view was incredible. The actual lines seemed pretty small from the plane but still a little impressive how intricate and exact they were. Joel felt I'll for the whole thing which must have sucked, kept asking for his blanket all the way round and getting the Peruvian next to him to rub his tummy. The city was crap so we just watched a movie in the room and chilled out for the rest of the day, Laurie's towel stinking out the whole room! Got up at 0415 to go sand boarding, was a 3 hour hike up the highest sand dune in the world and was real hard work, was so hot so early and the sand was mega hard to walk on. Eventually got to the top and did some practice runs, was a lot harder than it looks! Didn't really improve much and ended up just accepting it was going to be tough going downhill. Was just as hard as we thought but we gradually got better, until I did an epic stack smashing my head on the hard floor, knew I should have brought my knee and elbow pads!! Got back to Nazca and booked a bus to Arequipa a couple of hours later, once on the bus feeling the bruises on my ass, the journey wasn't the most comfortable!!
