Hey everyone! I am now in Rotorua. We left Mercury Bay early this morning and we arrived here at about dinner time.Mercury Bay and Anita's Birthday We left Auckland early to get to Mercury Bay. On the bus we had an option to go sea kayaking to Cathedral Cove, so we decided to do it and were very lucky to all get a space, as the coach was really full. We got to a town called Harhei where we all got into the kayaks. Me and Anita went in a double, as did Rob and James together and Naomi was with a German girl. We all got kitted up with life jackets and practiced our oaring skills on the beach, then it was time to get into the sea. It was the perfect day to kayak, so did not have to work too hard on the sea. In our group there were 8 of us in total plus our guide. We went to Cathedral Cove, they say it's the most beautiful beach in New Zealand and I wouldn't disagree, it was amazing! The sea was clear, the sand was great and the views were amazing! We got to the cove and had a wander and took some photos, then it was time to come back. Anita went in the back this time and steered and did a far better job of it than me. I steered on the way there and kept going into the opposite direction. We got back to the hostel by a taxi, ferry and a bus. When we got back to the hostel it was time for tea. Two older couples owned the hostel and made a great tea for everyone, we had spag bol and watching our pennies we all went back for seconds. As it was Anita's birthday we had a birthday cake, along with candles and sparklers and we all sang happy birthday- as did the rest of the hostel. The next day we decided to go back to Cathedral Cove. We had to get a ferry and a bus there and then it took us and hour and a half to walk there and back. We got there and had a great time and Anita and Naomi went snorkeling. On the way back we got to the bus stop and saw that the bus was not coming for nearly an hour so we got some fish and chips and then went back to the bus stop. A lot of people went past giving us weird looks, we then found out as we had missed the last bus by 6hours! There was no way of walking back to get the ferry, we then tried to find a taxi number - we eventually found one in bar and then got a taxi to the ferry. We made it back really late in the end and just jumped straight in bed to get up early again this morning to come to Rotorua. Now going to start my post from Rotorua.
