TAKE TWO! I was just about post my last blog and the computer decided to freeze - so here I go again.
We are in Auckland again, just here until the morning and then we are off to Mercury Bay. On Tuesday morning we went to Paihia. We left aroung 7.30 and arrived at about middday. We checked into our hostel and then went to the Waitangi Treaty Grounds. This is where the treaty bewteen the Maoria and the settlers was signed. In the evening we went to another hostel for a BBQ.
On Wednesday, we thought it would be a brill idea to use the bikes at the hostel. After adjusting the seats and putting our helmets on we were off! We were off too Haruru Falls, it looked a lot closer on the map than it was. Also, there were a lot of hills. Thankfully it was not has hot as it had been. We walked up all the hills, after the first one I jumped back on my bike and flew down the hills like the clappers! I have never been so fast on a bike before! I used my brakes far too late and nearly ended up in some bushes, I do not know how I missed them! We arrived at the waterfalls and ate our picnic! Its all we seem to have for lunch now! We then had to ride back. That night we made ourselves a BBQ, well Rob made us a BBQ, which was lovely. We just spent the night chilling, playing cards and having a fews drinks with some other people at the hostel. The hostel was really nice, it had a BBQ and outside benches and was very relaxing. We had a 6 bed dorm and we had a guy in called Phil from Costa Rica and he was one cool dude! Lol!
On Thursday we went to Cape Reigna, this is at the very top of the island. This is where the Maori's believe there spirts jump off the end when they die into the sea. I felt so ill on the coach trip there, I had a bag in one hand, thankfully I did not have to use it. I really thought I wasn't going to make it through the day! But when I got off at the Cape, I felt ok again. After the Cape we went to a beach and had some lunch. After that we went sand duning, which was amazing. It was tough getting to the top, it was so steep. I managed it twice, Naomi managed it 5 times! Anita fell off half way down! Sand went everywhere! On the way back to Paihia we stopped off for fish and chips and the were so tasty!
Today, we just chilled at the beach before we had to get back on the coach to come back to Auckland. We used the hostels kayak, Anita and Naomi went to a small island on it! They were gone for ages but made it safely back. We are leaving early again in the morning to go to Mercury Bay - it is also Anitas birthday, so we are going to go out for a nice meal somewhere tomorrow night, so looking forward to that.
Well I think thats all for now. Will update again after Mercury Bay x
