Last Bachata Lesson
Up bright and early, we had a delicious breakfast of eggs, tortilla and tabasco sauce before we walked to the studio for our final dance lesson. Being earlier than our previous ones the room started out slightly cooler, but before long it had heated up plenty and we were both dripping with sweat. Another excellent 3 hour lesson and it was finally time to say goodbye to Bolivar and Carla, we swapped e-mails and Carla said she would prepare us a DVD of the things we had covered which we could pick up on Friday. We walked home via the supermarket, then we showered and relaxed for an hour or so. Feeling like we should try some more authentic (as in what the locals eat rather than what the locals try to sell to tourists because someone may have eaten it at some point in their history) Dominican food we went to a small stand we had seen a few days before where we got some take away rice and chicken both of which had an unusual although delicious flavour. After a rather lazy afternoon we ate our dinner and got ourselves ready to go out, we headed to a little bar called El Canario where we had heard that Tuesday was salsa night. Sure enough they played nothing but salsa, unfortunately we also turned out to be the only people there. We ordered a beer each and sat down to see if it would get busier. We had a few dances over the next couple of hours although the bar didn't really fill up at all and eventually we decided that it was at the point where we couldn't really stay without buying another overpriced drink so we decided to call it a night. We wandered around the streets a little but all the other bars were playing REALLY bad cheese so we gave up and went back to the apartment.
