After our breakfast we decided that since the veg men only seemed to be about during the mornings we would go and look for one immediately. Of course since we were actually looking for one there were none about and we spent a good hour or so wandering the streets around our apartment with no success. During our walk we also went down to the shore to see if there was a beach where we could sunbathe and swim. What we found however was that since this area is next to the mouth of the river and there are not enough tourists in the area, what sandy beaches there are, are completely covered in rubbish, it's quite disgusting really, especially when you see all their advertising posters with the pristine looking beaches on show everywhere. Eventually deciding that we wouldn't find a veg man we went back to the apartment where we spent the next few hours practising some more dancing. Just after 2 we had a quick shower before walking into town to see Carla. On the way we picked up some lunch from a lady who has a sort of stall on the pedestrianised street, which is really just a plastic cabinet outside her house which she sells pastry type food from. Mae had a ham and cheese empanada which was the last one forcing me to choose a sort of tortilla hotdog similar to the ones we had had with Mauricio in Costa Rica. We arrived at the studio to find Carla in the middle of a beginner-improver level bachata lesson and sat watching for a couple of minutes until she had a chance to talk to us. Happily she had managed to talk to the other teacher and he had agreed to give us a 3 hour lesson the next day starting at 11am, we did however have to pay a deposit as he was coming from a town on the other side of the island. With that arranged we went to the supermarket again and bought some rum and coke to try that evening. We also went into the shop across the road which sells a bit of everything where we found a bigger coffee maker. We then walked back along the pedestrianised street looking in all the clothes shops for some shorts for Mae until she eventually found some back in the very first shop we had visited!! Happy with her new purchase we started walking back home and about halfway there we came across not one but 2 veg men standing having a chat in the middle of the road, so we managed to get a few bits after all. The day had by now turned out rather successful and we decided to relax that evening with a few rum and cokes before bed.
