This week was full of work but not forgetting the Wednesday, as this was when we headed out to finally tour Sydney!! Yeah I know, we been here ages n not managed to do the touristy bits yet! But today made up for it!! We (me, Lisa, charmaine, ben n Terrance!) started out by heading into the city for the open top bus tour! Oh yeah!! Went round the city – 3 times actually in the end!! Haha did the whole circle to start with so we could take all the pictures then we thought we could get off at the bits we wanted to get a closer look at on the next circle! So that what we did, we took pics of everything (as you can see from the pictures im sure!) but heard some interesting facts: like the spires of St Mary’s Cathedral were never finished being built until recently due to tax on the build, the opera house tiles are cream and white, theres 4 times more steel in the opera house than the harbour bridge n allsorts of other random bits! So we saw Woolloomooloo, The Rocks, Sydney Aquarium, Hyde Park, The Opera House, Town Hall, Circular Quay, Sydney Harbour Bridge there the ones I remember!! Oh n Luna Park! We met up with Katie n headed over there water on the ferry to check out the rides at Luna Park – it’s like a mini theme park but with about 11 rides!! Haha! But a giggle!
Because our bus tour ticket lasts for 24 hours, it meant that we could use it again the next day til half 3 so this worked out perfect because this was when we had tickets to go and see the Le Grande Cirque at the Sydney Opera House!! Yeah man wicked – not only did we see the outside but we got to see a show inside it too!! How many people can say they did that huh so cool. Plus this made Lisa very very hyper because it was the circus that we were seeing haha! It was wicked! Inside wasn’t as great as I thought it would be, I kinda got the impression of being inside a car park – you know all concrete ceilings n not much really going on, luckily it didn’t have the smell of stale piss!! Haha! We were a bit early so we sat and had a sani n a slice of cake! Prices pretty good – expected much worse! Then we headed in to find our seats! N wow! The place opened up as we went upstairs! First you come to the very posh bar, champers, wines n spirits only! No goon though – it’s all proper wine-age! With the slack-age of goon, we skipped the bar n went into the show room place bit with stage! Another wow moment! Good seats but huge stage, it was missing the big bit where the musician peoples stagey bit is (my mind has gone blank as to the proper word for that part!), but all the lights were on, and the ceiling was lit up it looked awesome.
The stage didn’t have any apparatus on it yet so we couldn’t really decipher what was going to happen first! But out they came, jumping through hoops, running on the outside of hoops at stupid heights, juggling, they got about 150 people on a single push bike, what else did they do wow they were wicked! They did the usual acrobatics on the swings and everything else you would normally see!
Worked the next few days till Sunday, when we had a special occasion on our hands. The Youth Olympic Games were on at the Sydney Olympic Park. This was as it says, the Olympic Games but for the younger ones. As it was Sunday it was the finals day. We sat and watched the hockey, diving, swimming, athletics and gymnastics. We spent most of our time watching the hockey as Lisa plays and so does Annie who was with us. Countries left in the hockey were Australia, Great Britain and India. It was wicked watching it and it was again so god damn hot. So soaking up the sun watching world class hockey weren’t a bad way to spend a Sunday!!
